The Allure of the Treacherous Ocean
You are the ocean, vast and deep,
While I, a swimmer, fragile, weak.
Forgotten are the strokes of grace,
Afraid to dive, to meet your embrace.
You called to me with a tender plea:
“Leap to my arms, find rest in me.
I’ll hold you close, shield you from harm,
Shelter your soul, keep you warm.”
Trusting your words, I took the leap,
Into your depths, both wild and steep.
For a moment, you held me tight,
A fleeting dream, a borrowed light.
But soon you turned, your back to me,
Chasing waves with careless glee.
You watched me flounder, gasp for air,
Pretending I was never there.
When truth revealed your heart’s disguise,
You met my gaze with cold goodbyes.
Blaming me for knowing too much,
And casting me out with a bitter touch.
Oh, ocean vast, so fair, so cruel,
Your beauty hides a heartless rule.
Yet I will rise, my strength reborn,
And leave your tides, forlorn, untorn.
